Helical return springs are similar to helical release springs, but they try not to press but to pull. The hooks on the end sections allow the pull force to be applied.

These springs, which are resistant to pulling, are wrapped except for exceptions. They are usually produced with right winding and with a pre-tension. When the force applied to the pedestal exceeds this prestressing force, the bow begins to change shape.
